How to get fit during the winter time

The year 2021 is here and everyone hopes to get the best out of it. We perceive the beginning of a new year as an opportunity to change something in our life. You may have heard the New year, new me quote, or made New year’s resolutions. People want to achieve different things but most of us have one common wish and that is to get fit, to lose weight or generally improve our health condition. Oh yes, that’s easy to say but hard to do. Especially now during the wintertime when it’s freezing outside and when the coronavirus restrictions closed the fitness studios in many countries. This article brings a few tips on how to do that!

Enjoy the journey leading to ‘healthy you’

Many people who are trying to get in shape just look up the most effective exercise, most effective diet, and force themselves to do it. They hate to do that, they just want the results ASAP and this whole process is just a necessary annoying thing they have to go through so they could get what they want. In my opinion, this could be really frustrating...

However, there is a way how you can actually enjoy getting fit and not only focus on the results.

Move.

The first thing that comes to our mind when we say ‘getting in shape’ is exercise. So we usually picture the classy sit-ups, plank, squads, and joining the runners in the parks. Nowadays there are thousands of ways how to burn some calories and gain strength. You need to find the one that suits you best.

Do you find classic exercising boring or too annoying but very effective? Then try to look for a more fun alternative. If you just go through YouTube videos you’ll find various workout videos in different styles. Find something interesting for you or something you would actually like to do! Maybe you will admire Yoga positions, and like the Yoga philosophy. If you like something faster try a dance workout.

You don’t have to wait for the fitness studio to open, you can do the exercise online from home. If you prefer life exercise classes where you have interaction with the coach and other participants you can join some online classes for example from Tracy Anderson’s studio or ClassPass.

Not everyone could enjoy exercising. For those who want to avoid it, there are other options. Thanks to online courses you can improve your skills in various physical activities, for example, gymnastics, karate, judo (this could be really fun with a friend or family member), ballet. Explore your options with Udemy which offers all of the classes mentioned in this paragraph.

You can also go out for a walk every day. If you want to make it more interesting and funny, download a step tracker that would count your steps. You’ll see that even if you’ll go on a short walk to the park or around a few blocks, the number of steps can really motivate you! These StepTracker apps also often offer the possibility to challenge your friends.

Eat

As a famous quote says: ‘We are what we eat’ so as you all probably already know, improving your eating habits and changing your diet could really make the difference and help you maximalize the results on your way to get fit. That doesn’t necessarily mean you should eat less or get on a week's juice cleanse. If you really want to change your diet, you need to find out that healthy could also mean tasty!

You don’t need to spend a fortune on healthy cookbooks you can recipes for healthy and yummy meals online for free. For example here.

Don’t forget to drink enough water. It’s really helpful having a large bottle filled with water all the time with you. There are also applications which will remind you to drink up, here is an article which will you tell you about them.

We wish you all the best on your journey towards your healthy self and we really hope you’ll enjoy the process and accomplish your goals whether they are about getting fit or about anything else.
